Free UPK Program / Giraffe Class
Age: 4 years old by December 31st
Universal Pre-Kindergarten is a 2 1/2 hour daily program processed by an application system administered by the New York City Department of Education and is free of Charge.
Our Giraffe Class is an extended full day with or without Free UPK program.
In Giraffe class, students develop their knowledge of the world and mastering important skills in preparation for kindergarten. Emergent literacy is a focus, along with challenging thinking skills. Listening and speaking is emphasized in large and small group settings, with peers and teachers exploring topics of interest together. We work on refining both gross and fine motor skills as well as encouraging mastery of self-help skills to enhance independence and self-confidence. Our goal is to develop individual potentials to the maximum and support each child on his/her own continuum of learning, so they are prepared to enter kindergarten the following year.
Each class has a certified teacher and an assistant teacher. Classes begin in September and end in June. The program offers a rich, supportive learning environment where children can explore, discover, talk freely, build, create and grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.
